  • Ramon Magsaysay High School has its beginning as the Governor Forbes annex of Mapa High School in 1952. It was in 1959 when what used to be an annex evolved into the Ramon Magsaysay High School named after one of the most loved Philippine president.
  • The present RMHS is a big improvement over its 1959 version. Within the span of a few years, three buildings were added to its skyline: the old North General Hospital which was returned by the national government to the city of Manila; a 45-room, 3-storey home economics building funded nationally. To be credited for this is the then Congressman Ramon Bagatsing Sr. and Undersecretary of the Department of Public Works and Communications, Mariano Bautista.
  • Through the years, student population increased until it reached about 8,000 in 1987. This presented new problems of administration and management. The cudgel was first taken by Mrs. Maria M. Ocampo, (1959-1972), the first principal whose term saw the growth of RMHS from a fledgling institution to a full-grown one. The next four years saw the principalship of Dr. William Ll. Estrada (1972-1976) who inspired many of his faculty to grow professionally. He answered the needs of a continually growing student population in terms of more chairs and expanded canteen and library.
  • In 1976, when Dr. Estrada was promoted Asssistant Superintendent of City Schools, of Quezon City, Mr. Mateo A. Angeles, a congenial, soft-spoken disciplinarian from Villamor High School took over. His 11-year term (1976-1987), witnessed several developments among which are a fully-equipped Educational Media Center; the construction of faculty rooms; department offices; a small stage for parade and reviews; a circular shed for student and pergolas. The school topped the NCEE for the first time in 1978 and kept the banner until the NCEE was stopped to give way to NSAT. A "Hiyas ng mga Tagumpay" showcasing the trophies of victories was put up to continue to inspire all those who love Ramon Magsaysay High School.
  • Upon the arrival of a new dynamic lady principal from Tondo High School, Mrs. Esperanza Bautista, the school improved by leaps and bounds in all areas. One of her most important achievements is the decongestion of the school population to a level conducive to quality learning made sustainable through its available resources. Out of the SEDP savings, the school underwent a metamorphosis which never fails to amaze its visitors and alumni alike. The SEDP building for Technology and Home Economics (THE) is positive proof of the lady's singlemindedness in pursuing a vision.
  • Mrs. Bautista left the school September 1995 but not without leaving a legacy which will pass from one generation of RMHSer to another. The school is a leader school not only in the division but in the region as well. But more than that she had left a battlecry which everyone had taken to heart: to continue the culture of excellence.
  • Miss Elena R. Ruiz took over from where Mrs. Bautista left. She is one whose star has been steadily rising and shining brightly, thanks to her cool, practical and nonsensical approach to problems. She had a different management style but no less brilliant than her predecessor. In less than half a year, tangible and intangible change are being felt and seen in the campus.
  • Miss Ruiz was not to stay long, though. The RMHS' loss is the gain of the Division of City Schools, Manila, because not long after she was welcomed into the RMHS family, she was bidding goodbye to move on to the position of Assistant Superintendent.
  • To date, Mr. Leon San Miguel is the current principal of RMHS.
  • Meanwhile, RMHS's star continue to shine. It continues to defy the popular notion that once you're up, there's no other way to go but down. It's because you can never put a good school down.
