- Overview
The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (abbreviation: PLP; English: University of the City of Pasig) is a local university run by the Pasig City local government in the Philippines. Conceived by former Mayor Vicente C. Eusebio, PLP is envisioned to be a local university that is committed to excellence in college education. With the approval and subsequent implementation of the Local Government Code (R.A.7160), Mayor Eusebio steered the Pasig City Council for the approval of Sangguniang Panglunsod Ordinance No. 11, series of 1999 – the charter that established the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig signed on March 15, 1999. [1]
On March 9, 2000, the Commission on Higher Education granted authority to PLP to offer tertiary courses within its mandate. PLP officially opened on June 14, 2000 with six (6) initial degree courses, namely: Bachelor in Secondary Education, Bachelor in Elementary Education, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management; and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. New courses were eventually added such as Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2001 and 2002, respectively. [1]
