Royal High School (often called simply "Royal" and abbreviated as "RHS") is one of two major public high schools in Simi Valley, California. Other public high schools in Simi Valley include Simi Valley High School, Santa Susana High School (a magnet school for technology and performing arts), and Apollo High School (a continuation school). Royal is part of the Simi Valley Unified School District and is located on Simi Valley's west side. Royal High School is a California Distinguished School and the recipient of a Digital High School Technology Grant. Royal's school colors are green and gold, and their mascot is the Highlander. [1]
Royal opened in 1968 but did not have a graduating class until 1970, because the class of 1969 was not divided up and remained at Simi Valley High School. So, Royal opened up with only sophomores and juniors. Freshman, at that time, were part of the junior high system. [1]
