The 1847 Blake House Inn B&B is located in Arden, N.C., two miles from Lake Julian Park. Blue Ridge Parkway offers panoramic views of mountains, valleys, farmsteads and historic structures four miles from the bed and breakfast. The Biltmore Estate, said to be American's largest home, offers a winery and gardens nine mile from the property. Downtown Asheville, N.C. is nine miles away.Built in 1847, this Italianate style mansion features manicured lawns and an arbor made from antique doors draped with wisteria. The inn features 22-inch thick walls and original red heart pine floors and mantles. Complimentary two-course breakfasts are served each morning in the dining room, featuring a Southwestern baked omelet with sausage, a fruit-stuffed French toast bake, or spinach and artichoke Eggs Benedict. Lunch and dinner are available upon request, featuring rosemary and thyme braised lamb shanks. A refrigerator is offered for guests' use. Complimentary wireless Internet access and conference rooms are available. The common area offers books, magazines, board games and a DVD library. The on-site gift shop features work from local artists. The inn showcases five fireplaces on the first floor and three on the second floor. Tickets to the Biltmore Estate are available.
