  • Overview

Sharjah Indian School is school in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates which was set up to meet the needs of Indian children living in Sharjah and the other Emirates. It was established in 1979 with 280 pupils and 13 teachers. The school has a strength of 7600 students and 500 teachers. The school caters for children of all ages from lower kindergarten through to grade 12. The school was inaugurated on 5 September 1979 by the then Indian Ambassador Mohammad Hamid Ansari. The school is purpose-built and is on a plot of land donated by H. H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassemi, member of the supreme council and ruler of Sharjah. It is divided into two blocks, one for boys and the other for girls. [1]

The school is owned and managed by the Indian Association Sharjah and is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education in New Delhi, India. Currently the Principal is Mr Radhakrishnan Nair and the Vice Principals are Mr Mohammed Ameen and Mrs Mini Menon. [1]
