  • Overview
    • Location. Located in downtown Waynesville, N.C., the Herren House Bed and Breakfast is less than two blocks from Main Street, offering restaurants, galleries, upscale stores and quaint shops. Golf is available within three miles at the Lake Junaluska Golf Course and the Laurel Ridge Country Club. The Queen's Farm Stables, located less than four miles from the Herren House Bed and Breakfast, offers horseback riding.
    • Features. This 19th-century former boardinghouse reflects Victorian charm mixed with the ambience of a country cottage. The Herren House Bed and Breakfast contains a seasonal restaurant open on Thursday and Saturday nights to its guests and the public by reservation only. Complimentary full breakfasts, served on hand-ironed linens and fine china, are provided each morning. Breakfasts generally include fresh seasonal fruit, French apple butter muffins, almond coffeecake, lemon apricot scones and a hot entrée. Homemade cookies, brownies and biscotti are available by the sideboard in the dining room. Afternoon tea and breakfast in bed are available upon request. The bed and breakfast's garden area includes a gazebo looking out to the surrounding mountains, and an old-fashioned wraparound porch is furnished with rockers. Games, puzzles and books are available. Pets are not allowed at this property.
    • Guestrooms. The six guestrooms at the Herren House Bed and Breakfast are named after members of the Herren family, and retain much of their original Victorian flavor. Select rooms feature claw-foot soaking tubs. Some rooms offer mountain views or views of the gardens.
    • Expert Tip. The Herren House was given its name around 1918 by its second owner, Mollie Herren, and her daughters, Jessica and Lucile. Lucile is the mother of Henry B. Foy III, the present mayor of Waynesville, N.C., who was born in one of the upstairs bedrooms.
