Horsforth School is a state school in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England that was opened in 1972. Located in Horsforth, it educates around 1,500 boys and girls, aged 11 to 18. It is well known as one of Leeds' best comprehensive schools for its excellent exam results and state of the art facilities. It was one of the first schools to be given the Special Science status in 2002. Last year 93% of students received A-C GCSE results. The school is led by Steve Jex. The assistant headteachers are John Dooley, Keith Bothamley, Jill Rowett and Francine Morris. Horsforth School also includes a post 16 centre. The school has been awarded the prestigious school curriculum award together with both Artsmark and Sportsmark status. The school aims to maximise the potential of every student in a fair, safe and equal environment. The John Broadwell learning centre, video, conferencing theatre, information and communication technology suite, mathematics, changing rooms and fitness rooms are all opening in October 2004.
