* Dwinelle Hall, completed in 1952, was named for John W. Dwinelle, the State Assemblyman responsible for the "Organic Act" establishing the University of California in 1868. He was a member of the first Board of Regents.

* Dwinelle Annex, built in 1920, was designed by John Galen Howard. It was used from 1920-33 for Military Science, and from 1933-58 for Music; it was actually called the Military Sciences Building and the Music Building during these periods. There was some remodeling in 1933 for music and it was enlarged in 1949 to accommodate a music library. In 1958 Dramatic Arts and Comparative Literature moved into the building. More recently, the College Writing Program occupied the top floor.  The Annex is currently occupied by the Center for Theater Arts (formerly Dramatic Art).

Dwinelle Hall
