The schools was established by Sir Robert Stanes in 1862 and 1858 respectively, with the Coimbatore branch starting with four children and two teachers. Today the school has over 3000 pupils and 136 staff. It started as a European and Eurasian school but under the concept of liberal education the restrictions have been relaxed, but minority rights for Anglo-Indian children are still retained. Not much information is available about the Coonoor branch, which has been relegated to a minority school as compared to its other branch. [1]
