Overview
Location. Colonial House Inn Restaurant & Conference Center is located on historic Old King's Highway on the north shore of Cape Cod in Yarmouthport, Mass. On a street lined with stately trees, Colonial House Inn preserves the charm of old Cape Cod and the tradition of gracious dining and hospitality. Gray's Beach and Bass Hole Boardwalk are two miles from the inn. The Cape Playhouse is four miles away.
Features. On the National Register of Historic Places, the original structure of the inn was constructed in the Federal style in the 1730s. In the 1860s, an 1820s house was added to the main structure, and a third floor was added with a mansard roof. The Doric portico in the front of the house gives it the present Victorian look. The conference center, located in the renovated carriage house, offers full business services in the setting of an historic landmark. An adjacent atrium includes a lounge, dance floor and heated indoor pool. The conference center opens out onto the lovely garden area and lower green. The fountain and waterfall make the perfect backdrop for an outdoor wedding or event, comfortably accommodating as many as 150 people per event. The restaurant at the inn features traditional New England cuisine prepared with a Continental flair, served in an elegant yet casual atmosphere in three intimate dining rooms. The Oak Room features rich golden oak tables, while the more traditional Colonial Room features hand-stenciled walls and a fireplace. The most recent addition, the Common Room, has a glass enclosed veranda with a view of the fountain and the town green. The menu is á la carte and offers a wide selection of entrees, including Cape Cod's fresh seafood.
Guestrooms.The inn offers individually decorated guestrooms furnished with antiques. Each room has a private bath and a charming view of the grounds and adjacent historic homes. All rooms offer air conditioning, balcony or patio, cable television, VCR and ceiling fan.
Expert Tip. The inn features an extensive wine cellar and a lounge with a full bar.
