Santa Cruz High School in Santa Cruz, California, opened in 1890. Santa Cruz High School is a comprehensive public school for grades nine through twelve, and has an enrollment of approximately 900 students. The school's most notable academic and athletic rival is Soquel High School, located on the other side of town. Under the leadership of Pete Newell Jr., son of Pete Newell, the boys' basketball team won the California state title in 2005. The 2007-2008 Varsity football team won the CCS Small Schools Title. [1]
