The Bauang Private Power Corporation is one of the first Filipino-owned corporations to take on the challenge of providing efficient, reliable and reasonably-priced power of the Philippines. In January 1994, the Philippine-American Life Insurance Company infused capital into BPPC resulting to a 93%:7% shareholdings between FPPC and Philamlife. FPPC was incorporated in 1992 as a partnership among Manila Electric Company (MERALCO), First Philippine Holdings Corporation (FPHC), JG Summit Holdings Inc., and the PCI Capital Corporation (of the PCI Bank Group). The power plant reached its full 215MW capability with the plant's formal inauguration in 1995. The plant, was in full commercial operation by July 1995, is located in Bauang, La Union. The Head Office is located in Pasig City.
