For much of the school's history it was the only public high school for the cities, Redlands, ,Loma Linda, Yucaipa, and Highland. Today it is one of four high schools in the district and still includes students from all the cities. The population was split in 1997 when Redlands East Valley High School opened. As for the ethnic distribution of the school, 43% is classified as White (not Hispanic), 30% Hispanic or Latino, 12% Asian, 9% African American, 4% Filipino, .9% Native American or Alaskan Native, .7% Pacific Islander, and 4% other or not classified. The third high school is Redlands Citrus Valley High School, which is set to open 2009, and a Continuation school,Orangewood High School. ^[1]
