• History & Memorable Moments

• • The school first opened in 1913. ^[1]
  • In 1926, a new school was built on South Tamiami Trail and the school was relocated. ^[1]
  • In 1950, the Sailor Circus held their first performance as an extension of the PE class at the high school. ^[1]
  • During 1958 and 1959, the school was expanded due to an expanding student body. ^[1]
  • In 1969, in celebration of its 20th anniversary, the Sailor Circus relocated to an arena right outside the school campus. ^[1]

   * In 1996, the school expands to its current size of 85 acres, and classes begin to move out of the old Sarasota High building. [1]
