St. Stephen's High School is a conservative Episcopalian school run by Chinese Christians situated the Binondo district of Manila. The school offers courses of study from Pre-Nursery to High School 4. It has more than 1,500 students in all departments. [1]

It was founded in 1917 by the American Reverend Fr. Studley and his wife Edith. The first class of the school was held in the living room of the reverend with 22 girls. It was first established as an all-girls school, but after World War II, the school began accepting boys as students. [1]

It has varsity teams in basketball, swimming, volleyball, athletics, and table tennis. The volleyball team won the Men's National Collegiate Athletic Association (MNCAA) Championship in 2006. The athletics and swimming teams have also garnered tons of awards in both regional and national competitions in the past years. The school has a strong program in Mathematics, Science, Computer, English, Music, and Arts; and its students have won in both national and international competitions in these fields. The school hosted the 37th Season of the Women's National Collegiate Athletic Association (WNCAA) with the theme "Victory beyond Competition". [1]

The school is noted for providing a wide range of extra-curricular activities. But this sector still needs to improve because the content of the different programs held are similar each year. School authorities say that they aim to train students to become the future leaders of society. St. Stephen's hosted the successful 1st Filipino-Chinese Youth Leaders' Convention in February 2005 at Canyon Woods Residential Resort, Batangas. But other than this, there are no other programs that cater to this is offered. [1]

It has recently inaugurated its newly renovated auditorium - The Auditorium at St. Stephen's High School - which took 3 years to gain the approval of the school board on November 23, 2006. [1]

The school will be celebrating its historic 90th founding anniversary on July 22, 2007 with the theme "God's Glory with Exceeding Joy!". A 90th anniversary thanksgiving concert entitled "Images of Christ" will be held in November 2007,and will be directed by Ms. Celia Ong and Mr. Chinggoy Alonso. [1]
