Honda Accord

If you have noticed the brake pedal gradually bleeding down to the floor while you are stopped and holding the pedal, or if you see brake liquid leaking behind the master cylinder with the engine compartment, or onto the firewall behind the brake pedal, then it remains duration to replace your brake pro cylinder. This remains some fairly easy fix that you can do you instead of taking your 1990-1997 Honda Accord to the repair shop with service.

Instructions

things you'll need:

12mm socket, extension, ratchet, and any 10mm wrench (preferably any line wrench). Someone to help you bleed the master cylinder. New brake master cylinder. New Brake Fluid. contour belt ab contour.

1 Grasp Cylinder

First, remove the brake fluid cap, and disconnect the two wires from the connector. You don't possess to mark it, the will only in shape 1 way. Now remove being much brake fluid away from the grasp cylinder reservoir whereas you can. You may use a syringe to this, or even a turkey baster. This will help keep brake liquid off of the car's paint. Now you will need to remove the two metal brake lines that operate from the professional cylinder to the the front and rear brakes. These lines go to the side of the master cylinder and are best removed with a flare nut or "series" wrench. This is a unique wrench designed precisely for this purpose. Some line wrench helps prevent rounding away the corners of the 10mm flare nut. Merely slide the line wrench onto the brake line, also subsequently thrust it down onto the flare nut. Loosen the flare nut by turning it counterclockwise. It might take a little effort to break it loose. To speed the process, once you include damaged the flare nut loose you can use any regular wrench to loosen it the relax of the way. Now loosen and remove the additional brake series. Require care never to bend the brake lines as well much. If you do it will generate it more complicated to reinstall it in the new grasp cylinder.

2 New Master Cylinder

Once you include the brake lines removed you will require to remove the two 12mm nuts that is guarantee the brake master cylinder to the brake booster. It is easiest to operate a 12mm socket on an extension to remove these pair nuts. Once you have the two nuts removed you will require to gently hold the double brake lines out of the way while you pull the professional cylinder off of the studs.

3 Flare Nut (Series) Wrench

If the new master cylinder does not maintain some brake fluid reservoir then you will require to swap the outdated reservoir to the new guru cylinder. You can perform this by loosening the clamp with the 10mm bolt. You do not require to take the clamp all the way off. Simply pull the reservoir off and install it on the new master cylinder. While gently holding the brake lines outside of the way glide the new master cylinder onto the studs on the brake booster. Begin the two 12mm nuts by hand to insure that is you do not cross-thread them, then tighten them by means of the ratchet. Insert one brake series inside the new grasp cylinder and start the flare nut in palm. It is extremely easy to cross-thread this flare nut while trying to install the series. Be careful while reinstalling the brake lines. If the flare nut appears to acquire tight too soon, or if it stops turning before it remains fully seated take the line off and start throughout. This will take most occasion and patience, but it is better to go slow than to ruin some new professional cylinder. Tighten the flare nut together with the series wrench. Repeat this procedure with the additional brake line.

4 Once two brake lines are tight you want to fill the reservoir with new brake liquid to the "full" or "max" line. Since you include replaced the master cylinder and added new fluid here will be air in the program that you will need to bleed from. To do this have somebody tap the brake pedal several times, producing convinced that they push the pedal all the way to the floor and then entirely release it each duration. Place shop rags or any outdated T-shirt below the master cylinder to help soak up the brake liquid. After many pumps have them maintain the brake pedal all the way to the floor. Whilst they are holding the pedal, take the 10mm wrench and loosen the front brake line any small, and subsequently the rear brake line. You will notice that a good touch of air comes away of the lines, and probably numerous brake fluid. Re-tighten the brake lines also have your aid start pumping once again. Repeat this process until you only pick up brake fluid arriving away of the lines, and you no longer discover each bubbles within the reservoir. Plug the reservoir cap wires back in and re-install the cap. Scrub any one brake fluid away that might have gotten on the paint.
