• Overview

East Mountain High School was founded in 1999 as one of the first charter schools in the state of New Mexico. ^[1]

After ten years, East Mountain High School claims a record of success. ^[1]

EMHS was recognized as a Bronze Star School by U.S. News & World Report for the last two years, one of only 17 schools in New Mexico to receive such recognition. ^[1]

EMHS is the ONLY Albuquerque-area school to have met adequate yearly progress (AYP) goals for the last five consecutive years. ^[1]

Over the past five years, over 75% of students scored proficient or above in reading and over 65% of students scored proficient or above in math. ^[1]

EMHS’ graduation rate is over 95% and more than 85% of students go on to college after graduation. ^[1]

EMHS teachers have received some of the honors in the profession, including the American Stars of Teaching Award and National Board Certification. ^[1]

EMHS has received over one million dollars in grant funding from such foundations as the Walton Family Foundation, the Albuquerque Community Foundation and the Daniels Fund. ^[1]
