MSRIT was the first institute started by the Gokula Education Foundation in 1962, by Sri. M. S. Ramaiah. Since then, it has increased in size and stature, and now offers a wide variety of courses like B. E. in 12 areas, B.Arch., M. Tech. in 8 areas, M.Sc (Engg) by research, MCA, MBA & Ph.D. MSRIT was originally affiliated to Mysore University and later with the Bangalore University (until 2002). It is now affiliated to Visveswaraiah Technological University, Belgaum. It is an institutional member of the ISTE and is recognised by the AICTE. It has been certified ISO 9001:2000 and has been accredited by NBA. [1]
MSRIT is one the institutes to be funded under TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Program) by World Bank. From Aug 2007, MSRIT will be academically autonomous. While VTU will still award the degrees, MSRIT is free to set it own syllabus and conduct evaluation all by itself. [1]
