Sri Guru Gobind Singh College Of Commerce (S.G.G.S.C.C) is the commerce college of the University of Delhi, Delhi, India. It was founded in 1984 and is named after the tenth Sikh Guru. It is the second college of commerce of the University of Delhi. The college is primarily a co-educational English medium institution. [1]
The university runs undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in commerce fields. It is ranked top amongst all other colleges offering Business Economics. [1]
As of 2010, the college has some 1000 students. The Principal is Dr J. B. Singh and the staff are almost exclusively Delhi graduates themselves. [1]
The college provides a blend of resources and environment for all round personality development of its students. Its goals are in consonance with the fact that national economic and commercial relations are becoming so closely interdependent that meaningful vital changes are being introduced with academic curriculum in the centres of higher learning. Strategically located near the T.V. Tower, Pitam Pura, the college is managed by Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee, a statutory body, constituted under an Act of Parliament. The college is named after the tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Drawing inspirations from the teachings of Sikh Gurus, the college helps its students to imbibe moral and spiritual values having universal acceptance. [1]
The college spread over 10 acres (40,000 m2) possesses modern infrastructure including spacious class-rooms, sprawling grounds, a well-equipped library and highly sophisticated computer labs. Special care is taken to make our building accessible to physically disabled. The college is linked to Delhi University through Intranet and shares all electronic resources. Apart from academic excellence, the thrust is also on personality development and group dynamism for which sports facilities like cricket ground, volley ball, basket ball, lawn tennis, table-tennis courts etc. of national standard have been developed. The college also fosters a drama society called "Manchtantra". The club is one of the finest in University of Delhi[citation needed] and has won many prizes in inter-collegiate competitions. Its success has also been covered by CNN-IBN and Navbharat Times. [1]
