The Sam Hughes Inn Bed and Breakfast is located in the Sam Hughes Historic District two blocks from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz. The University Medical Center is one mile away. Shops and restaurants in downtown Tucson and the El Con Mall are approximately two miles from the inn. The Reid Park Zoo is two miles away, and the Randolph Golf Course is approximately three miles from the property.This Spanish-style inn, built in 1931, is surrounded by mesquite, eucalyptus and pine trees. The inn features a walled, sunken fountain garden and a patio under giant shade trees. Original oak floors, Art Deco architectural details and a red-tile roof complete the ambience of the inn. Full complimentary breakfasts are served each morning on the patio or in the dining room. Breakfasts include vegetable egg dishes, fresh-baked breads, seasonal fruit, breakfast meats, coffee, tea and juices. The inn offers a computer station, and complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the inn. A combination of antique and contemporary Southwest-style furnishings are featured throughout the inn. The original terrazzo floor surrounds a 14-foot fieldstone fireplace in the great room, which also offers a library of books and magazines, board games, a television and sliding glass doors leading to the garden. The living room boasts Art Deco design details in the fireplace and the cove ceiling. Pets are not allowed at this property. Guestrooms feature Southwestern themes and private bathrooms. All accommodations offer complimentary bottled water, amenity baskets and bathrobes. The Tombstone room, featuring wood paneling, a rustic cowboy décor, cable television and a mini fridge, is located in a separate guest house with a private entrance off the walled fountain garden. The Nogales room faces the Catalina Mountain range, and features a wood-beamed ceiling, tile floor, mini fridge and a Mexican, wrought-iron canopy bed. The Santa Fe room boasts a tile floor, four-poster lodge-pole bed, wood-beamed ceiling, mini-fridge, Mexican-tile bath with enclosed shower stall and French doors that open onto the patio. The Pima room is a small room accommodating only one person, featuring the original oak floors and views of the mountains through an arched window.
