Hilltop High School is a four-year public high school located in Chula Vista, California and is part of the Sweetwater Union High School District. The school colors are green and white, and are nicknamed the Lancers. Hilltop boasts a magnet program for foreign languages called the FLAGS program. In addition, Hilltop also has not only the highest number of AP courses available to all students but the highest AP pass rate out of the entire SUHSD.[citation needed] Hilltop has many other accomplishments too and is consistently one of the best schools in the district. ^[1]

As of August 2007, Ernesto Zamudio of Montgomery Middle School. Jerry Rindone, principal of ten years, retired in July 2007. Rindone is currently the Deputy Mayor of the City of Chula Vista. ^[1]

Some clubs like Humanities, MEChA, Gay-Straight Alliance, Metal (Music), Marine Science, Step (Dancing), Italian, Interact etc. are found on campus. ^[1]

Bonita Vista High School and Chula Vista High School and Castle Park High School are its rival schools. ^[1]

For 2005-2006, the school's Academic Performance Index place it 698 (base) where 800 is the California state goal with a state rank 5 out of 10.[1] Demographics for 2006-2007 enrollment conclude that the student body make up is 71.6% Hispanic, 11.2% White, 9% Filipino and 4.7% Black. ^[1]
