Choate Rosemary Hall (commonly referred to as Choate) is a New England preparatory school for students (who call themselves "Choaties") in grades 9-12, known as the third through sixth forms at the school. With both boarding and day students (who make up nearly 25 percent of the student body), the school has been co-educational since 1973. Today, students come from nearly all fifty states and twenty-four countries, with students of color making up approximately 30 percent of the student body. The admission rate is approximately 24 percent. Nearly 30 percent of the student body receives financial aid to pay the substantial tuition, and the average amount of aid given is 70 percent of the tuition. Choate is located in Wallingford, Connecticut, fifteen miles north of New Haven, Connecticut. [1]
