Miami Sunset Senior High School is a secondary school located at 13125 SW 72nd Street in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, Florida; its principal is Lucia Cox. The school is part of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools System. Sunset was built in 1977 and opened its doors that same year. Beginning in the late 1990s, Sunset became one of many overcrowded schools in the county, due to the recent population explosion in the metropolitan area. This forced the school district to build two other schools in the area, Felix Varela High School and John A. Ferguson High School, to relieve overcrowding at Sunset and other nearby high schools. [1]
