T+L made changes to the World's Best Awards cruise categories this year to better represent the industry and the needs of travelers. Ships with 150 to 299 cabins fall into the new category of small-ship ocean cruise lines, while those with less than 150 cabins make up the new intimate-ship category.

Readers ranked each cruise line in a variety of categories, including accommodations and amenities, dining, service, itineraries, ports of call, things to do onboard, and overall value. Results for the cruise lines were generated in six categories, including river cruising, using a combination of these evaluations.
