The school prepares students for Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCs) held by the Mumbai Divisional Board of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. Both Gujarati language streams and English language streams were available earlier. Today the school is a completely English Medium School. Apart from the subjects defined in the curriculum, many other activities like Maths Club, Drama Club, Environment Club etc are a part of the student life at HMPS.[1]

The Green Brigade Club has been the most active Environment Club amongst the schools in the suburb and has won noteworthy prizes in competitions.[1]

After sixty years of service, preparation for celebrating the Diamond Jubilee year in a fitting manner commenced in January 1999. The trustees of the School managing committee held meetings with past students, associations of parents and teachers and School staff to elicit views on the celebrations and to make concrete plans.[1]
