- Overview
School of Architecture and Planning (SAP) is one of the four constituent colleges of Anna University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It was established as a Department of Architecture of the University of Madras in the year 1957 and was located in the Alagappa College of Technology. The department was later renamed as the School of Architecture and Planning, and shifted to its own independent campus in the year 1968. [1]
The School conducts graduate and under-graduate courses in architecture and other allied subjects. SAP functions as two departments namely Department of Architecture and Department of Planning headed by Dr.Ranee Vedamuthu and Dr.V.M. Marudhachalam respectively. The school has a separate state of art library with collection of publications of about 15,000 including books, Journals, thesis reports and back volumes etc. The Library has now become a resource center for Architectural colleges of Tamil Nadu as well as for other States. [1]
Since its inception, SAP has become a premier institute for architecture in South India. Students of SAP have continued to win accolades at National and International architectural student forums. [1]
