Preston University is the first private university of Pakistan and now has one of the largest networks of campuses in Karachi, Kohat, Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad and Ajman. Preston University was established as a School of Business and Commerce in 1984 at Rawalpindi in Pakistan. [1]

Preston University is accredited and recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, which is the primary regulator of higher education in Pakistan. Preston University has charters from the Pakistan provinces of Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. HEC has placed the University in the highest category ‘W’. [1]

Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan, Governor of Sindh and Patron of Preston University has assured the management and faculty of Preston University of his utmost support in all their efforts directed towards the attainment of highly commendable cause of higher education. [1]

In 2004 the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Lieutenant General (r) Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah said that the private sector needed to help supply higher education. "He thanked Preston University Chancellor Dr. Abdul Basit for fulfilling the commitment he had made to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government and the people of Kohat, at the time the charter was granted to build the university’s campus in the city."[1]
