Hamdard University is a private institution of higher education in Karachi and Islamabad, Pakistan. The university was founded in 1991 by Hakim Said of the Hamdard Foundation. Hamdard University has the largest campus of any private university in Pakistan, covering 350 acres (1.4 km2). The university is located 28 km (17 mi) from the commercial centre of Karachi on the main highway leading to Bund Murad Khan, near the Sindh-Balochistan provincial border. The University is currently ranked at No.10 in HEC rankings of general category universities. [1]
The campus comprises eight faculties: humanities and social sciences; Eastern medicine; health science and medicine (including dentistry); management sciences; engineering sciences and technology (including information technology); legal studies; pharmacy; environmental sciences; as well as the Institute of Advanced Studies and Research, Hafiz Mohammad Ilyas Institute of Pharmacology and Herbal Sciences and a hydro chemistry laboratory. Bait al Hikmat is the university's main library. In addition to these facilities, the university also maintains a number of units in downtown Karachi, including Hamdard School of Law, Hamdard Education Net, Regional Cisco Networking Academy, Hamdard Institute of Management Sciences, Usman Institute of Technology and Hamdard Institute of Information Technology. The Islamabad campus offers teaching in pharmaceutical sciences, management sciences and information technology. [1]
