  • Overview

PSU Urdaneta City Campus is situated in the veritable melting pot and fast-growing education center in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan. Its historical origin reflects the noble traces of hard-pushed efforts, determination, political savvy and administrative acumen of its founder and the enthusiastic support of the faculty and staff, the University administration, the political leaders in the service area and the people of Urdaneta City in general. [1]

What is now known as PSU Urdaneta City Campus System traces its humble beginnings as a geographic satellite of PSU Asingan, its mother campus. In such status, it took effect by virtue of PSU Memorandum No. 3, s. 1987. This project to create a satellite campus in Urdaneta was inspired from the visions and ideas of Dr. Rodolfo V. Asanion, who was then Dean of PSU Asingan Campus. Dr. Asanion, at a later time, became the University President. With the help of concerned agencies including then Ministry of Budget headed by Min. Manuel Alba, the Municipal Government of Urdaneta under Hon. Amadeo R. Perez, Jr., through the approval of a pertinent Sanguniang Bayan Resolution, the Urdaneta, satellite campus, of PSU Asingan was realized. The once complex system of PSU Asingan was under the administration of one College Dean with two Associate Deans in each of its two geographic satellites. At that time, the two campuses had to share the meager budget. In time, Urdaneta satellite campus surmounted every difficulty that confronted it and improved its capacity to accommodate more and more students. In turn, these promising indicators became catalytic for its pioneering faculty to peddle for its autonomy from the mother campus and turn it into a standard College of Engineering. With the full support of the Sanguniang Bayan of Urdaneta, separation was sought through Board resolution No. 82, s. 1989 which took effect on August 1, 1989, thereby creating the PSU Urdaneta Campus system as the University’s bastion in terms of its Engineering and Technology programs.
