Pre-dating the Iraq invasion of Kuwait, Jabriya Indian School was The New Indian School, registered in Hawally. The New Indian School moved to the present building in 1979 from the Bedouin-style building in Khaitan, under the able leadership of Late Mr. Alemão (Principal). During the school's peak days it boasted a student population in excess of 3500 from mostly Indian population. The school also had students from Kuwait, Hungary, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan etc. The New Indian School, following the CBSE syllabus, catered to the needs of students by providing classes from Kindergarten to twelfth. The New Indian School ceased to exist after the invasion. Located in the Jabriya district of Kuwait, the school was re-founded in September 1993 as the Jabriya Indian School, making it one of the most recent schools in Kuwait to cater to the large Indian community. A particular feature of this school is the presence of a large number of non-Indian students who gain an insight into Indian culture. At present, the school provides educational facilities up to the twelfth standard and it is well set to fulfill the educational needs of students. [1]

The Jabriya Indian School is recognized by the Kuwait Ministry of Education and affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. It admits students of all nationalities and prepares students for the All India Secondary School examination and Senior Secondary Certificate Examination. The school is well equipped with modern facilities and an ideal infrastructure setting. The school has competed in various local and international sporting events with great performances in football and basketball. The Jabriya Indian School was undefeated, locally, in basketball between 1995 and 2002. [1]
