Lakewood High School is a public secondary school located in the Southern California city of Lakewood. Founded in 1957, it is part of the Long Beach Unified School District. This school is one of the best in the district with some of the highest average of SAT9 State Testing scores; beating out Polytechnic High School and CAMS. LHS served 1770 sophomores, juniors, and seniors in 2007. Lakewood is the architectural twin of nearby Millikan, which opened in 1956. The school mascot is the Lancer and their colors are red and white. The school's secondary mascot is the Dragon and its secondary color is black. Lakewood High School's motto is "Today's lancers, Tomorrow's leaders." It gained notoriety because of the exposure of a group of students known as the Spur Posse in the early 1990s, until March 18, 1993, when it came to national attention. The film The Rage: Carrie 2 (released 1999) emulates the Lakewood Spur Posse. [1]
