    • Expert Tip. Early legends of the Jicarilla Apaches, who migrated through the Pikes Peak region around 1,000 AD, tell of a cave in this area where the Great Spirit of the Wind resided. Explore the Cave of the Winds, located three miles from the hotel, like early cave dwellers by taking the Lantern Tour, where visitors and guides carry handheld lanterns to light the way though the cave.
