Danbury High School is a public high school in Danbury, Connecticut. Despite Danbury's rather large population of approximately 90,000 people, there is only one public high school, along with several small private schools and one vocational high school. Compared to other school systems in the Fairfield county area, Danbury has a much more diverse population and student enrollment. The student body varies dramatically not only racially, but economically, and historically, as a relatively large population of the school is made up of immigrants. The school recently underwent an accreditation review by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. DHS takes pride in its diversity and large population, but an often criticized aspect of the school is its rather large size in the over 40 year old building, leading to moderate over-crowding. DHS is currently at 107% percent capacity for the building. [1]
